In response to the fire incident at the Molie Quantum Energy plant on July 14, Molie Quantum Energy released a two-week progress report today. The company has also proactively submitted a preliminary internal investigation report to the fire investigation unit and invited external fire experts to join the investigation, assisting in reviewing subsequent optimization efforts to demonstrate a full commitment to cooperating with government investigations. Molie Quantum Energy emphasizes that the company's 21700 battery cell products possess strict international safety certifications, ensuring their quality and safety. Preliminary findings suggest the fire was caused by a "multiple system anomaly and superimposed events." Furthermore, Molie Quantum Energy has swiftly formed a neighborhood affairs team, actively visiting opinion leaders such as community chiefs and councilors in Xiaogang District, humbly listening to the community's criticisms and suggestions, and pledging to continue rebuilding trust with the local community with a more humble approach.
Molie Quantum Energy stresses that its 21700 battery cells are designed specifically for high-end power applications, with end products like commercial drones and aerospace research vehicles having extremely stringent safety requirements. Multiple built-in safety mechanisms are integrated from the product design stage, and the batteries have passed numerous rigorous international standard certifications, including UN38.3, UL1642, IEC62133, GB31241, BSMI, and JIS62133. Additionally, the company has obtained AS9100 and IATF16949 production quality certifications, which surpass industry standards. These achievements fully demonstrate that Molie Quantum Energy's products meet the highest safety design standards, and the recent fire incident at the Molie Quantum Energy plant was not a problem with the product design itself.
Despite the severe damage to independent system computer hard drives and monitoring equipment hard drive hosts at the scene due to the fire, Molie Quantum Energy is diligently comparing CCTV footage with on-site inspection data. Preliminary findings indicate the ignition point was the "Formation Semi-finished Product Room Temperature Resting Area." This area is used for battery resting and curing, with the ambient temperature constantly controlled at 23±2 ℃, and no electrical operations are conducted there. The preliminary assessment suggests the accident points to a "multiple system anomaly and superimposed events" situation, including an unknown high-temperature heat source flowing through the resting area, triggering battery venting, the automatic fire suppression system failing to activate effectively in time, and subsequent power outages leading to the plant's fire suppression system failure.
Currently, some critical evidence, such as the formation equipment host, is located in the core area of the fire and requires approval from the competent authorities before entry for clearing and professional recovery. This data is crucial for the final determination and confirmation of the accident's cause. The company will continue to fully cooperate with fire investigation and prosecutorial police investigations, providing all necessary information. Furthermore, the company has formally invited external fire safety experts to join the internal investigation team. They will not only help clarify the cause of the accident but also jointly review and ensure the correctness of the plant's optimization direction.
Molie Quantum Energy's Xiaogang Plant deeply recognizes that despite 70% of its employees being from the Kaohsiung area, with 21% being native Xiaogang residents, and 58% of its supply chain partners being local Kaohsiung enterprises contributing over 40% of procurement funds to the local Kaohsiung economy, the company has long failed to establish good interactions with the community. We particularly apologize for the failure to properly notify the surrounding community immediately after the fire. To repair relations with the local community, the company has swiftly formed a "Neighborhood Affairs Team," with a plant executive serving as public relations director. Through phone calls and personal visits, the team continues to listen to the criticisms and suggestions from 38 community chiefs in Xiaogang District and surrounding neighbors, addressing concerns such as industrial safety worries, health concerns, lack of community interaction, and expectations for financial resource investment. The Molie Quantum Energy plant is planning to proactively release quarterly environmental monitoring reports, launch a dedicated LINE account for neighborhood announcements, and organize health lectures and dietary therapy wellness activities.
Over the past two weeks, Molie Quantum Energy has actively launched various self-reflection and optimization initiatives, including strengthening environmental management such as wastewater treatment and air monitoring, enhancing employee support, and planning a comprehensive upgrade of plant safety and self-firefighting response capabilities. Progress on the Molie Quantum Energy team's efforts in various matters since the fire incident two weeks ago will be reported on the company's website (Molicel website news section and parent company TCC Group news section). Molie Quantum Energy commits to upholding the principle of transparency in the future, regularly releasing relevant information to the community and all concerned publics to rebuild social trust.
