Atlante, a TCC subsidiary focused on the Southern European charging market and founded by Chairman Nelson Chang, unveiled its 2030 strategic roadmap today (November 27) through CEO Stefano Terranova.
He stated that Atlante is moving beyond the role of a traditional charging station operator. By integrating TCC’s proprietary concrete energy storage cabinet, EnergyArk, with a digital energy trading platform, the company is transforming into a technology company equipped with 'energy trading' capabilities. The goal is to simultaneously capture the €5 billion fast-charging market in Southern Europe and the €10 billion European energy market by 2030, demonstrating TCC's determination to transform from a manufacturer into an international energy operator.
"Our core competency lies in energy regulation services, not just charging." Stefano clearly defined the essence of this business model: By integrating TCC’s proprietary "EnergyArk" concrete energy storage cabinets, Atlante builds stations that combine charging and storage.
Once deployed across Europe, the storage capacity of these stations forms a stable virtual power grid, effectively solving the issue of insufficient grid feeder capacity. This sustainable ecosystem, centered on integrated charging and storage, will serve as a key cornerstone for the future of smart cities in Southern Europe, driving the region’s transition to low-carbon transportation.
"In the European market, characterized by significant price volatility and transparent mechanisms, this system provides frequency regulation services during grid instability. It also generates substantial revenue through arbitrage—storing electricity when prices are low and discharging it when prices are high—as well as through ancillary service fees.
Taking the French energy market as an example, the daily price spread per kWh can reach approximately NTD 13. This is roughly double the spread found in the Taiwan market (NTD 5–8), representing immense commercial potential. This achievement confirms that TCC’s hardware technology, EnergyArk, seamlessly integrates with software platforms to successfully monetize its technology on the global stage."
Beyond the passenger vehicle market, Atlante is demonstrating its technical capabilities by strategically positioning itself in the high-barrier electric truck charging sector. To meet the rigorous 1 MW power demands in Europe, Atlante leverages its superior energy storage technology. This expertise has enabled the company to win Italy’s largest tender and secure a €5 million grant from the EU, demonstrating that its technology is widely recognized by the mainstream European market.
Stefano stated, "When Chairman Nelson Chang approved the founding of Atlante in 2022, he accurately anticipated the growing trend of 'mobile batteries' and grid flexibility needs in Europe. In just four years, starting from scratch, Atlante has established over 1,000 100% green energy charging stations across Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal. We have secured key locations including highways, airports, urban hubs, and major retail destinations."
To date, Atlante has signed agreements for over 100 sites equipped with EnergyArk. By 2026, the company expects to complete the deployment of more than 200 integrated energy storage and charging systems.
Stefano revealed, "The core of Atlante's success lies in our proprietary 'Smile Strategy.' While our own app, 'myAtlante' has attracted over 50,000 users within just one year, operating in isolation in the European market is not enough; Atlante's true advantage lies in deep strategic partnerships with major retailers.
By establishing a presence in large commercial centers, Atlante can directly tap into their massive member traffic, extending our charging services to millions of potential customers. Furthermore, Atlante has launched 'GreenGems,' Europe's first digital charging token, to enhance customer loyalty across our entire network."
