On April 3rd, a strong earthquake struck Hualien. Heping Village in Xiulin Township experienced the strongest tremors in the entire country. The cement plant, power plant, and port operated by TCC in this area were heavily damaged. Fortunately, our dedicated colleagues worked tirelessly to rebuild and restore operations, and we are gradually returning to normal. However, we also noticed that the earthquake not only shattered the magnificent scenery of Taroko Gorge but also severely impacted Hualien's tourism industry. Xiulin Township, where TCC is located is 97% forested, and aside from small-scale farmers, many tribal residents rely heavily on the tourism industry for their livelihood. With domestic and international tourists temporarily shying away from Hualien, as a company deeply rooted in Hualien for more than 20 years, what can we do to assist the tribal communities?

In 2020, TCC's Heping Cement Plant opened its facilities to the public, transforming it into the TCC DAKA Open Eco- Park. The concept of mutual local wellbeing has always been a core belief of ours. As Hualien faces the challenging path to reconstruction, the DAKA Ecotourism guide team decided to step into the tribal areas. They visited small-scale farmers and small vendors severely affected by the disaster and urged everyone to support these communities by ordering their products for home delivery. Together, we can help them overcome the difficulties!
