As the demand for building decarbonization, sustainable procurement, and green buildings continues to surge, building materials backed by third-party low-carbon and environmental certifications have become indispensable. Such materials not only help construction projects earn additional credits toward green and low-carbon building certifications, but also assist large-scale developments—such as technology plants and data centers—in meeting increasingly stringent sustainable procurement and carbon reduction requirements.
TCC' s Portland-limestone Cement (PLC) concrete, which has the lowest carbon footprint of its kind in Taiwan, has received the Low-Carbon Circular Building Material Certification from the Taiwan Architecture & Building Center (TABC) for all of its major product specifications. Combined with its previously obtained third-party Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), TCC is now the only supplier in Taiwan to have its PLC concrete certified under both the EPD and Low-Carbon Circular Building Material schemes. The dual-certified concrete provides customers with a lower-carbon material solution for reducing embodied carbon in construction and can support applications for green building and low-carbon building certifications.
For the construction industry, the true value of low-carbon building materials extends beyond mere carbon reduction; it lies in their ability to provide comprehensive and credible environmental data. Equipped with both domestic and international dual certifications, our PLC concrete provides crucial supporting documentation for major building rating systems, including Taiwan' s Low Embodied-Carbon Building Rating (LEBR), the internationally recognized Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), and Taiwan's EEWH Green Building Certification. By utilizing our materials, construction projects can significantly enhance their performance in green and low-carbon building assessments. Furthermore, for critical developments demanding both international and domestic green building standards—such as technology plants and data centers—our dual-certified concrete streamlines the sustainable procurement process. It effectively reduces the administrative costs and time associated with certification submissions and document preparation.
Since the launch of our Portland-limestone Cement (PLC) concrete in December 2023, cumulative contracted volumes have surpassed 8.81 million cubic meters as of the end of June this year, spanning 3,516 construction projects. Over this same period, total shipments have reached 5.16 million cubic meters. Compared to traditional Type I Portland cement concrete, our PLC concrete has enabled Taiwan's construction industry to cut carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 1.065 million metric tons.
This remarkable milestone clearly demonstrates that our PLC concrete has successfully transitioned from pilot applications to become an essential building material of choice for a diverse range of developments, including commercial office buildings, technology plants, and high-rise residential complexes.
Currently, our Portland-limestone Cement (PLC) concrete has been successfully adopted in multiple landmark developments. These include the Fubon Insurance Building constructed by Da-Cin Construction, the ASML Linkou Smart Factory undertaken by KEDGE Construction, and the Alioth Palace in Taichung developed by Lien Jade Construction. These flagship projects span a diverse array of building types, ranging from large-scale commercial offices and smart factories to high-rise residential complexes.
Furthermore, TCC Group Holdings has successfully established a comprehensive island-wide supply network. Across all our sales regions, we are fully equipped to provide a stable supply of certified PLC concrete tailored to meet the diverse structural strength requirements of any project. Developers, contractors, and technology plant operators can now conveniently source our certified low-carbon materials locally. There is no need to modify original architectural designs or procurement plans due to product specifications or regional supply limitations. By partnering with TCC, our clients can achieve a perfect balance among uncompromising engineering quality, supply reliability, and the critical imperative of building decarbonization.
