In today's increasingly globalized world, businesses face unprecedented challenges and opportunities. Compliance is not just about adhering to regulations; it is a core element of corporate ethics, sustainability, and risk management. CIMPOR, as a key partner in TCC's internationalisation journey, views compliance not merely as a regulatory requirement but as an opportunity to foster transparency, trust, and resilience. By embedding compliance into the very fabric of our operations, we aim to contribute meaningfully to TCC's vision of sustainable growth and responsible corporate governance.

Ethical Practices Beyond Regulations
CIMPOR's compliance philosophy goes beyond mere regulatory adherence. We believe that compliance is not just about systems and processes but about fostering a culture of ethics and accountability. We emphasize 'doing the right thing,' which includes following the law and internal policies and adhering to the company's values and ethical principles. CIMPOR actively invests in training and awareness programs to ensure that our employees, and stakeholders understand the importance of compliance. From global compliance newsletters and podcasts to gamification, surveys and workshops, we continually seek to make compliance engaging and accessible.
Compliance Strategies in the Face of Globalisation
CIMPOR's compliance implementation is based on a global perspective, including several key components. Leadership alignment is crucial, ensuring compliance is a priority throughout the organisation. A dedicated and independent compliance function oversees and manages compliance efforts. This function plays a company-wide vital role, engaging with various departments and operations. Compliance advice is provided to guide business units on adhering to relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
We strictly comply with the anti-corruption laws of various countries, such as the National Anti-Corruption Law in Portugal, and have established robust internal control systems to prevent bribery and corruption. At the same time, we emphasise international sanctions regulations, conducting comprehensive sanctions screenings of customers, suppliers, background screening and vessels to avoid illegal transactions and potential legal risks.

Furthermore, CIMPOR has established a Compliance Policy Management Program consisting of 21 compliance policies and procedures. These policies are distributed in four working languages (Turkish, Portuguese, English, and French). In addition, CIMPOR conducts online and live compliance training programs and seminars for employees at all levels, including senior management.
Compliance 4.0
CIMPOR's innovative 'Compliance 4.0' project represents a leap forward in leveraging technology to enhance compliance. By integrating robotics and automation into processes such as supplier, customer, and candidates due diligence, we have improved efficiency while ensuring thorough risk assessments. For instance, tools like the World-Check platform allow us to effectively screen potential partners for sanctions or compliance risks. Additionally, employees and Suppliers may raise their ethical concerns anonymously through our 24/7 ethics hotline, Ethi.co, which reflects our belief that open communication and transparency are essential for building a culture of integrity.
Through these technological advancements, we aim to set a benchmark for how organisations can transform compliance from a manual burden into a streamlined, value-adding function.
CIMPOR's Compliance Vision: Becoming a Sustainable Partner
Looking to the future, CIMPOR will continue to strengthen its compliance system to address evolving global challenges. We will continue to invest in technology and optimize compliance processes to ensure that compliance remains the cornerstone of the company's sustainable development. We aspire to be a trusted business partner, working hand in hand with TCC to create a more compliant and sustainable future.
Cimpor's experience demonstrates that compliance is not only about avoiding legal risks but also about building a competitive, ethical, and sustainable business. We believe that by establishing a sound compliance system, Cimpor and TCC will be better able to meet future challenges and achieve common sustainable development goals.
