The latest Future of Jobs Report 2023-2027 by the World Economic Forum (WEF) indicates that the global workforce is undergoing a massive skills transformation, with 44% of workers' core skills expected to be disrupted within five years. In an era where cognitive flexibility and complex problem-solving are paramount, TCC Group Holdings is taking a counter-intuitive approach to its 2026 annual recruitment. Today, TCC announced the launch of the "Nemo Talent Program," specifically designed to identify π-shaped talents who possess a pioneer personality, independent thinking, and the potential for seamless international communication.
In a departure from the growing corporate trend of using AI to filter applicants, TCC is inviting the younger generation to submit a personal perspective essay as part of their application. TCC Chairman Nelson Chang emphasized the philosophy behind this initiative: "We are not just looking for people to fill roles; we are looking for individuals capable of making sound judgments in an era of uncertainty. Therefore, TCC values an individual's insight into the future and their core values far more than just their past resume."
The inspiration for the "Nemo Talent Program" stems from Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, the classic masterpiece by science fiction pioneer Jules Verne. The protagonist, Captain Nemo, commanded the Nautilus with visionary wisdom and courage, exploring the unknown depths of the ocean and utilizing its natural resources for survival. Similarly, as TCC sails toward a global layout centered on low-carbon building materials, resource circulation, and green energy, the group seeks to attract talents across diverse fields—including finance, business management, mechanical and electrical engineering, materials science, and civil engineering.
This recruitment strategy aligns with McKinsey & Company's emphasis on "dual-core" expertise. Unlike the T-shaped talent with a single specialty, today's global enterprises require π-shaped talents. Much like the two legs of the Greek letter π, these individuals have one leg deeply rooted in core technical expertise and the other in multilingual communication and international integration resilience, connected by "cross-domain thinking" to deconstruct complex problems in the global transition.
At the National Taiwan University (NTU) recruitment event on March 7, TCC will debut its theme booth, "The Nautilus: Heading for the Future." The exhibit features unique installations, including a cement replica of the Cyrus Cylinder (the world' s first charter of human rights), Rodin' s The Thinker, and the "Doomsday Clock"—a metaphor for the global warming crisis. By choosing a communication mode that emphasizes the progress of civilization over technology-centric interfaces, TCC aims to signal that in an age where technical tasks can be automated, "thought" and "cross-domain integration" remain the most essential weights of talent.
"Limited seats, unlimited responsibility," stated TCC. The goal of the "Nemo Talent Program" is to build a pioneering squad with global mobility. Successful candidates will participate in real-world transition projects in Europe, Asia, and Africa, receiving direct mentorship and guidance from senior executives across various business units. To identify truly critical thinkers, the first stage of the application requires candidates to submit personal perspectives on seven key issues selected by TCC. This serves as the primary benchmark for assessing depth of thought and problem-solving capabilities. Through this program, TCC hopes to find young blood who can transform personal insights into tangible drivers for global industrial paradigm shifts, forging a world-class competitive vision in the process.
