As the global energy transition enters a critical phase, energy storage systems have become a core infrastructure for the stable operation of power grids in many countries. TCC Energy Storage, a subsidiary of TCC, announced today that its self-developed Energy Management System (EMS)—the "digital brain" of energy storage—has officially passed the IEC 62443-3-3 Security Level 2 (SL2) international industrial cybersecurity standard certification by the international third-party certification body, Bureau Veritas (BV). This milestone not only symbolizes TCC Energy Storage's world-class cybersecurity protection capabilities but also serves as a crucial international passport for the company. In collaboration with TCC's European energy subsidiary, TCC Energy Storage is now well-positioned to export its "Taiwan-developed" energy storage power application models to Europe and global power grids.

TCC Energy Storage stated that its current main business focuses on establishing energy storage-centric microgrids in Europe to participate in the charging and power trading markets. Europe enforces extremely stringent legal regulations and technical thresholds regarding the cybersecurity of critical infrastructures. In European and American grid projects, possessing system-level cybersecurity certification has shifted from being a "plus" to a "must-have." Through obtaining this IEC 62443-3-3 SL2 certification, TCC Energy Storage has successfully proven that its self-developed EMS meets the system-level cybersecurity standards recognized by international critical power infrastructures. The system can effectively defend against malicious attacks in highly connected energy storage environments, building a solid, top-tier international security defense line for the "digital brain" of energy storage. This capability will directly assist TCC Energy Storage in deepening its collaboration with its European energy subsidiary. When participating in major European power system bids, it will be able to seamlessly meet the high-standard cybersecurity requirements of international power giants and grid companies, significantly shortening the technical review period and greatly boosting its global competitiveness.

For the industry, the EMS is akin to the "smart command center" and "digital brain" of an energy storage system. It is responsible for monitoring tens of thousands of battery cells, dispatching power charge and discharge, and connecting in real-time with the cloud and national grids. The IEC 62443-3-3 system-level certification passed by TCC Energy Storage is completely different from the common single-hardware component certifications seen in the market. Its technical difficulty lies in ensuring that the entire EMS, in a highly connected environment, achieves top-tier "Security by Design" defense levels across identity verification, access control, data encryption, and abnormal event response. Currently, in Taiwan's energy storage industry, TCC Energy Storage is one of the few players possessing independent R&D capabilities to have obtained the SL2 system-level certification.

This certification process was completed with the professional assistance of Deloitte Taiwan's Tech & Transformation team. Howard Chien, Senior Executive Vice President of Tech & Transformation Services at Deloitte Taiwan, stated: "With the high degree of integration between OT (Operational Technology) and IT (Information Technology) systems, cybersecurity has become synonymous with business resilience. By examining its governance capabilities through international standards, TCC Energy Storage has successfully established a digital foundation trusted by global stakeholders."
