Ta-Ho Maritime Corporation, a subsidiary of TCC Group Holdings, has awarded the ISO 50001:2018 energy management system certification by the British Standards Institution (BSI), becoming the first shipping owners in Asia to obtain the BSI ISO 50001 certification. Leo Tsai, Chairman of Ta-Ho Maritime Corporation, accepted the certificate on behalf of the company. A total of 11 operating vessels were included in the certification scope, covering cement carriers and bulk carriers. Since 2018, Ta-Ho Maritime Corporation has initiated the renewal of its energy-saving and eco-friendly fleet. From shore power and smart ship management to energy data management, it has continuously reduced fleet energy consumption and carbon emissions over the past eight years. Awarding the ISO 50001 certification further institutionalizes and digitizes energy-saving management. In terms of cement carriers, the improvement of energy efficiency also extends the low-carbon transformation of TCC's cement business from the production end to maritime transportation.
Since 2018, Ta-Ho Maritime Corporation has introduced energy-saving bulk carriers and eco-friendly cement carriers, reducing consumption through hull design, equipment efficiency, and digital ship management. The smart cement carrier “M.V. Ta-Ho Compliance,” joining in 2025, integrates smart management, APM, and dust-free enclosed loading/discharge Currently, eco-friendly vessels with energy-saving designs and shore power account for over 80% of Ta-Ho’s fleet, as transformation shifts from hardware renewal toward low-carbon and smart management.
APM (Alternative Maritime Power) is a key measure for Ta-Ho Maritime Corporation (THMC) to reduce energy consumption in port. Since 2020, Ta-Ho has promoted APM, allowing cement carriers to switch to onshore power after docking, reducing carbon emissions, air pollution, and noise from fuel generators. Following ISO 50001 certification, THMC set an 85% annual shore power utilization target for cement carriers, improving efficiency through equipment upgrades, operational processes, and ship-shore coordination. Meanwhile, existing energy-saving, APM, and digital measures are integrated into a measurable energy management system to monitor energy status and improvement opportunities for 11 vessels via energy baselines and performance indicators.
Ta-Ho Maritime Corporation has also successively introduced international standards such as ISO 14001 environmental management, ISO 14064 greenhouse gas inventory, and ISO 14067 product carbon footprint. In the future, it will continue to reduce fleet energy consumption and carbon emissions through energy-saving vessels, APM, digital energy management, and route efficiency optimization, enhancing the competitiveness of low-carbon shipping and providing support for the low-carbon maritime transport of TCC's cement business.
